Single Review: Ludacris Ft. Slaughterhouse – “Furiously Dangerous”

This single has been hyped for a good chunk of time, and finally, I’m pretty sure most of you have heard it by now. For years on years, I always felt that the “Fast And Furious” franchise always had a fierce soundtrack, but this really takes the cake. When you hear the names Ludacris and Slaughterhouse in one sentence, it sounds as good as its hyped up to be. Hit the jump to check out how I feel about the track, verse by verse. Let us know what you think in the forums!

[Intro] We open the single with a powerful hook, being provided by Claret Jai. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve never heard of this chic before, but her voice matched this song perfectly, and the way Eminem and Mr Porter sampled her voice in the lab, sounded perfect for this track. I had a talk with my friend James about this hook, and he told me that some people were even annoyed by this chorus. Even though its the same two words being repeated in a loop, it works out.

[Verse 1: Ludacris] With the yellow complexion, big Luda opens up the song with a pretty strong verse, and starts the song off nicely. While Luda dropped some pretty dope lines, it was a shame that his verse was so short. I’m not knocking any of the members from Slaughterhouse, but this beat was completely Luda’s style. It’s a shame the verse was so short.

[Verse 2: Joe Budden] A lot of people in the social network universe believed that Budden had one of the best verses, and I gotta agree. His delivery was unbelievable and as he likes to point out, he was a complete animal. Budden’s flow was also very on point, and just like Luda, found a way to be perfected with the beat. No one is gonna fuck with Joe Budden and SLH, when he says that he’s gonna take down the competition, put them in a crash course in a smart car. In this verse, it’s crystal clear that Slaughterhouse wants to take over the hip hop game.

[Verse 3: Royce Da 5'9'] Coming off the buzz from his latest single “Writer’s Block” featuring Eminem, it was clear that Royce wasn’t going to just fade away into the shadows of the game. Instead of waiting, Royce capitalizes on this single for more buzz, and drops straight flames of lines. While the lines are pretty witty, I think it’s safe to say that even Royce’s haters *cough* will agree that he delivered.

[Verse 4: Joell Ortiz] This verse made me laugh, and for a good reason. Just like a little kid, Ortiz says he gets a kick out of the haters, and the beat turns to a sample of Eric Cartman making random sounds. A toast to the haters! Ortiz says everything he speaks is hot, while everything the competition speaks is nothing but crap, nothing nice (as he puts it.)

[Verse 5: Crooked I] The last and final verse of the single and probably goes up there as the besto one one, alongside Joe Budden and Luda. Crooked finished this single off by telling us that nothing is gonna stop him on his path. The only way to stop him is to cock the gun, and shoot. He also makes a reference to his group’s single “2.0 Boys.” A killer with his words and syllables and he just won’t stop.

Overall: Ludacris & Slaughterhouse’s single will be one of many songs that will be featured on the Fast & Furious soundtrack. I’m sure years later, this single will be looked at, as one of the best in the franchise, and will be looked upon as one of the most fitting. This is the type of track I would visualize to be playing, while that final race is happening in the film, or could quite possibly only make an appearance in the credits, at the end of the film. When I heard a snippet to this track not to long ago, I knew it was going to be complete fire, and after finishing up this quick review, I have to agree that this track is a banger. Overall, “Furiously Dangerous” gets a 5/5 stars, when it comes to its flow, delivery, creativity and replay value. The song won’t stop playing in my head, and I’m sure it wont for weeks or quite possibly months to come. For more of my reviews, check out the review section on www.EastExclusives.com
